Torre Eiffel

The most famous Parisian landmark impresses not only with its beauty, but also because it can be seen from almost every point in the French capital. Built in 1930, the tower is 324 meters tall and was the tallest structure in the world for 41 years. To reach the top, you can pay to use the elevators or climb the 1.665 steps.

An interesting detail is that the distance traveled by all the elevators in the tower between the base and the top of the structure in one year is approximately 103 kilometers. That's equivalent to two and a half trips around the Earth!

Rio Niteroi bridge

The President Costa e Silva Bridge is popularly known as the Rio-Niterói Bridge. It spans 13,2 kilometers, with 8,8 kilometers over Guanabara Bay. When it was built (completed in 1974), it was the third longest in the world, and today it ranks eleventh. Currently, the bridge sees 140 vehicles pass through it daily, serving as the access route from the city of Rio de Janeiro to the Lakes Region—a tourist area of ​​Rio de Janeiro.

Three Gorges Hydroelectric Dam

The power plant located on the Yangtze River in China holds the title of the world's largest, surpassing Itaipu, located between Brazil and Paraguay. The Three Gorges Dam is approximately 180 meters high and holds 1.400 trillion liters of water, impounded by 2,8 million cubic meters of concrete.

Belo Monte hydroelectric plant

The hydroelectric power plant located on the Xingu River, in the state of Pará, had its construction started in 2011 and is still under construction, with completion expected in 2020. The plant is the largest construction project in Brazil, budgeted at approximately R$ 26 billion. Upon completion, it will involve around 22 workers and consume 3,7 million cubic meters of concrete. Belo Monte will be the third largest hydroelectric power plant in the world, smaller only than Three Gorges and Itaipu.

The great Wall of China

The Great Wall, stretching for approximately 8.000 kilometers and crossing 9 provinces and 100 counties in China, is one of the most impressive structures in the world. It is 7,8 meters high and its top is, on average, 5,8 meters wide. In 2007, the Great Wall of China was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Pyramid of Giza

The beautiful pyramid located near Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world that still exists. The Great Pyramid, as it is also known, was built around 2.550 BC to be the tomb of the great pharaoh Khufu. According to scholars, its construction took about 20 to 30 years to complete, and it is estimated that around 100 slaves worked on the project.

The Great Pyramid of Giza is 147 meters tall, weighs over 6,5 million tons, and has an area of ​​52,9 square meters, equivalent to six football fields.

Burj Khalifa

The skyscraper located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the tallest building ever constructed by man. The Burj Khalifa is 828 meters tall and has 168 floors, and can be seen from an impressive 85 kilometers away.

The building contains over 45.000 cubic meters of concrete, weighing more than 110 tons. The concrete and steel foundation required 192 pillars buried more than 50 meters deep. The Burj Khalifa has approximately 39.000 tons of steel reinforcing bars.
