ROHR in the expansion of Dr. Miguel Soeiro Hospital: greater efficiency at a lower cost.

When it comes to healthcare, time is always a crucial factor. With this in mind, ROHR, together with Hoss Engenharia, participated in the expansion project of the Dr. Miguel Soeiro Hospital in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo state. The goal of the project was to increase the hospital's bed capacity and introduce new technologies to be used in various fields of medicine.
The challenge – This project required a range of solutions to meet the deadlines, with the goal of enabling the hospital to use its new resources as quickly as possible. Due to its complexity, the construction required six months of operation and was completed in 2019.
ROHR Solution – To assist in the construction of the hospital unit's structures, ROHR supplied the Kibloc and ALUROHR formwork systems. Kibloc, used in the construction of the slabs, has a multidirectional characteristic, resulting in greater speed. With a lighter structure and less material to be assembled and disassembled, the labor involved in the entire formwork process was reduced.
Versatile, the Kibloc also served as an access point for work at higher levels when used with a ladder on isolated towers. In turn, the ALUROHR system, with high-load-capacity, lightweight aluminum shoring, provided speed and exceeded expectations due to reduced labor requirements during assembly. In total, 36,9 tons of material were used in the formwork.
We also supplied the access stairs, essential for the flow of materials and labor during project execution. ROHR stairs ensured safety and speed for all vertical movements, resulting in a smooth and safe work routine. The stairs are easy to assemble, disassemble, and move vertically and horizontally. This contributes to faster construction by reducing the need for potential relocations.
For the construction of formwork for columns, beam sides, and slab bottoms, ROHR HF formwork was used, which made all the difference to the final result. This system was adopted for this project because it was the best solution given the characteristics of the structural elements and the need for an excellent concrete finish. Due to its characteristics, the system also results in lower material costs compared to competing alternatives on the market.
The existence of varying dimensions for columns, beams, and slabs required a formwork system with extensive modularity, where the Rohr HF formwork system proved to be the best solution available on the market. This resulted in the use of wood for additional elements being almost nil. In total, 1.187 m² of formwork was used.
Our technical support team developed solutions that adapted to changes in structural designs and concrete pouring schedules. To achieve this, they proposed alternative timelines, strengthening the partnership with the client and always striving to provide the best possible service.
In turn, the ROHR construction department provided full support from the outset and consistently, with on-site technical visits to assist in the implementation of formwork, shoring, reshoring, scaffolding, and staircase designs, and in verifying and anticipating any potential execution problems, always in conjunction with the client.
Our key differentiators – Our team possesses technical engineering expertise, focusing on planning and productivity in the projects we undertake. We are also recognized for the quality, speed, and safety of our equipment assembly workforce.
