In yet another partnership with Afonso França Engenharia, we participated in a new infrastructure project, this time the Codesp (Companhia Docas do Estado de São Paulo) viaduct, built for Companhia Suzano, one of the world's largest producers of paper and pulp.
Over eight months in 2020, we brought our engineering solutions to the construction of the viaduct over a railway line, located on Barnabé Island in the city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. In this project, we supplied the formwork for all the precast beams, as well as the shoring for the beams before the viaduct was consolidated.
Among the specific challenges of this project, the length of the entire construction stands out. The viaduct has a span of 360 meters to cross the railway line and aims to improve the flow and safety of road traffic in the area. The construction consists of three lanes for vehicles and one lane for pedestrians, but the project also included the creation of a permanent bypass extending 595 meters.
In addition to all the technical monitoring and supervision, we also brought our HF formwork technology for precast beams and so-called New Jersey barriers, as well as the ETEM tower shoring for the construction of the viaduct. We were also responsible for the shoring of the crossbeam and for supplying the Kibloc scaffolding, in order to allow access to the construction site.
