Considered the largest architectural project implemented in Minas Gerais in the last five decades, the Presidente Tancredo Neves Administrative City, in Belo Horizonte, bears the signature of Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012). All the creativity and talent of the master of architecture can be observed in the buildings that make up the 265 m² of built area of ​​the space. And ROHR is proud to have participated in this gigantic engineering challenge by contributing with its products and services, in addition to all its knowledge accumulated in a trajectory of almost 60 years of activity.

The Administrative City project, initiated in 2003, was built between 2008 and 2010 on a plot of 804 m². The highlight of the project is the government palace, a building with 17 m² of constructed area, comprising four floors, a basement, a ground floor, and a technical floor. As with other creations by Niemeyer, the palace inspires admiration and sparks the curiosity of those who observe it, thanks to the immense volume of glass that appears suspended in the structure, supported only by some concrete structures.

"The audacity of its structure lies in the four columns supporting the building. An example of architecture courageously integrating itself with the most refined technique that concrete can exhibit," Niemeyer summarized about the project at the time of its construction. It is a box suspended by prestressed tie rods, supported by the two porticos of the facades which, with a length of 150 meters, together with the roof, make up the supporting structure.

No less impressive, the JK Auditorium is another building that is part of the Administrative City. With 4 m² and entirely constructed of concrete, the auditorium has a capacity of 490 seats and an ideal infrastructure for lectures, presentations, and congresses. ROHR provided engineering solutions, technical support, and equipment such as the HF formwork, used for the execution of the foundation blocks of the building, as well as the curtains, walls, and other pillars of the palace and the walls of the auditorium and the palace.

ROHR was also responsible for supplying the ETEM and tubular equipment for the formwork of the construction, such as the support portals for the palace, the helipad, and the auditorium. We also supplied Kibloc equipment for the project and employed our expertise in the assembly of the access stairs for the construction, as well as the assembly of ladder-type stairs and scaffolding for the construction of the curtain walls, pillars, and the stairwell for the palace access, in addition to the walls of the auditorium.
