Inaugurated in 2006, the Oscar Niemeyer Cultural Center, also known as CCON, is one of Goiânia's main attractions when it comes to culture and leisure. Commissioned by the Government of the State of Goiás, the cultural space was built by Warre Engenharia, and benefited from solutions offered by ROHR during the two years the project was developed.

Its main buildings were constructed in geometric shapes, which made the Oscar Niemeyer Cultural Center one of Goiânia's architectural icons. The space is composed of a rectangle that houses the children's, adult, and virtual libraries, as well as administrative offices; a cylinder where the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) is located; a half-orange shaped structure, similar to the National Museum of Brasília, which houses the Palace of Music; and a 36-meter-high pyramid that houses the Monument to Human Rights.

With 18 employees, ROHR brought all its knowledge and professionalism to a challenge of great proportions. The Oscar Niemeyer Cultural Center comprises a complex with an administrative building of 4.050 m², the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), which occupies 2.484 m² of built area, and the Palace of Music, with 7 m², totaling almost 13.500 m².

ROHR's ​​mission was to deliver the best results at the lowest price. The main highlight of our technology was the support of the T-30 trusses on ETEM concrete, forming a span in the central part of the Museum of Contemporary Art. In addition to labor and ETEM concrete, we supplied metal and wood beams, HF formwork, and HT20 panels.

The Cultural Center was designed by Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012) and therefore named after the Rio de Janeiro architect. The CCON was built on a 26 m² esplanade, the Juscelino Kubitschek Esplanade, a square intended for events, leisure, and sports. Daily, the CCON is a popular location for photographers to conduct photo shoots. The photos showcase the fusion of architecture and the colors of the sky, which stand out because there are no buildings around.

Currently, the museum's collection comprises 1.200 works by artists such as Beatriz Milhazes, Tarsila do Amaral, Carlos Scliar, Oscar Niemeyer, Carybé, Tomie Ohtake, Alfredo Volpi, and many others. It consists of sculptures, drawings, paintings, prints, objects, photographs, installations, and contemporary media. The Monument to Human Rights, the iconic red pyramid, covers 700 m² and houses a 700-seat auditorium, a winter garden, and an exhibition hall. The library building also has a 135-seat auditorium.

The Palace of Music boasts features that have become great symbols of Niemeyer's work. The reinforced concrete, so characteristic of the master of modernist architecture, gives shape to the spherical palace, which, in 7 m², houses a theater with more than 1.500 seats, with an orchestra pit, boxes for 284 people, and a bar. The Goiás Philharmonic Orchestra has its headquarters in the palace. Since 2012, when it was recreated, the orchestra has already performed around 100 times there, gathering an average audience of 40 people per year.
