What type of shoring is needed for sandy soil?

Essentially, sandy terrain requires continuous shoring, without gaps between the walls, focusing on the support, which must resist the forces transmitted by the uprights, which can be props or towers. If the support cannot withstand the transmitted pressure, we either reduce this pressure by increasing the support area of ​​the upright or by creating a support that resists the forces from the uprights.

How should a concrete slab be shored up?

Analyzing permanent loads (weight of the structure), live loads, and accidental loads, we can find basic guidelines for calculating shoring in standard 15696. The material used also directs us to verify other relevant standards.
To exemplify the use of standards according to the shoring material: Wood: NBR7190; Steel: NBR8800; For Aluminum, as there is still no standard for aluminum structures in Brazil, we propose the use of Eurocode 9.

What is the difference between shoring and formwork?

Conceptually, shoring is a formwork made with props; however, nowadays, shoring and formwork are synonymous. Like formwork, shoring is a temporary structure used to support permanent materials on a construction site, such as slabs and beams.

What is metal shoring and when should it be used?

Shoring made with metallic materials, the most commonly used being steel and aluminum, is widely used and offers many advantages over wooden shoring, for example, due to the high load-bearing capacity of metallic shoring, which reduces the number of uprights and the labor required for assembly and disassembly.
